So disappointing experience with NB, I don't even know why I wanted to try them...wasted money I'll tell you!! Bought 1080v4, for running on asphalt, 40-50km per week, after 3 weeks there was *** on my right shoe, above my big toe. Size was correct, they were comfortable, but something was not ok with this. After contacting customer service, sending shoes (my cost) for analysis, waiting for 14 days on reply, to finally be told I probably didn't tie my laces properly or was wearing incorrect size??!! I will also mention I have been professional runner over 20 yrs, also competing in national team (800m).

Worst experience I ever had in a store EVER!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Walked into the store and saw a cool looking foot pressure machine and only put my feet and my socks onto it and the extremely rude worker said not to do that in a very hostile way. Then he started to give me a VERY NASTY ATTITUDE when I forgot to untie the shoes before taking them off. He then kept ignoring us and in the end my mom was writing down a model number and he SNATCHED the shoe away from my mom. He kept on trying to tell me what to do and control my actions. Well the world does NOT revolve around him and AVOID the aventura mall new balance shoe store if you can. It was a really obnoxious white guy with brown hair who I overheard was 35 years old... REALLY????? You could not do anything better with your life then be a "pedorthist" aka shoe salesman and take the little 2-bit job to your SMALL HEAD??? It's not my fault that you did nothing better with your life and take your frustrations out on PAYING customers. He also got mad if I did not untie the shoes if I did not buy them.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've recently visited the sports science institute as I've been enduring endless pain from injuries incurred for over a period of 18 months yes that's right, almost two years of suffering from ITB, twitching knees, ankle twists from both feet almost every single month and I'm not exaggerating. So often I wanted to give up on running which I love so much. So I've discovered that the "running" assessment done by New Balance was inaccurate and thus selling me the Wrong running shoes. I was told that I needed stability shoes hence your sales person sold me the 860 V3 shoe. I cannot begin to explain how painful this has been for me and I don't know Ive managed to endure all of this. I wish to also proclaim that no amount of compensation can make up for the pain and suffering not only I've endured but also my passion for running. I have wasted away 18 months of running just because I was sold the wrong pair of running shoes. I am extremely unhappy about this as I've had to spend so much money at the physio therapists and podiatrist practice's due to these injuries. It has been an endless journey to nowhere. I had to share my narrative with you as I wouldn't want this to happen again ;-(

New Balance 711 Sneakers Review

I have always been pleased with New Balance, until my last purchase of 711's, which were made in Vietnam. Both shoes began unraveling on the outside of the shoe where the little toe is after a few months wear. My others lasted several years. Very disappointed!

Quality has dropped

Updated by user Apr 12, 2015

I still have a w1007 cross training shoe from the 90's-had a or to wear and a pair for fitness equipment. Also have a 2 pairs of 1020s that preceded the 1123.

The 1540s were never good for anything other than walking around.

It seems that when they moved their production overseas, they stopped caring about quality or consistency. That's fine, but then they should drop their prices accordingly so that knowledgable consumers can discern that the 'name' is no longer predictive of high quality.

Original review Apr 12, 2015
I have worn NB for almost 20 years. I always liked the fact that their staff was knowledgeable, and they had products specifically designed for over-pronation. The last decent product I purchased was the w1123-of course, discontinued. The replacement model W1540-worthless-heel too wide, not enough support etc. I still use their inserts-to prolong the life of well constructed xtraining and running shoes long since discontinued. The last time I went to the store at Easton in Colimbus, OH, two teenagers were 'working' and eating French fries. They didn't offer to help, didn't understand the term 'pronate', and unlike what had been the norm, did not offer to check my foot for size. The didn't understand the differences among their products, and it was clearly nothing more than summer pocket change for them. Before I started wearing NB, Brooks was my shoe of choice-my next pair of shoes will be Brooks or something else from a specialty shoe store with trained and knowledgable staff. I should've known when they started selling them at Sears and discount stores, that the quality of the product was no longer important-just sales volume to the masses. Their shoes are too expensive to be nothing more than junk, and unless something changes, I will never get another pair.

I've been buy New Balance sneakers for 25+ years......

but in recent years the quality of their sneakers has gone down hill. I wear size 13 4-E cross trainers (623, 608 etc) and 7 out of the last 8 pairs have fallen apart . Usually its the uppers separating from the bottoms be it the whole front or the inside at the base of the big toe. As I recall, the uppers and lowers were stitched to one another but now it appears they are glued together. NB better do something soon about quality control or this long time customer is going elsewhere ! I look forward to "Made in the USA" once again.

Not buying New Balance anymore!

60 year old female has been wearing this brand for 30 years but things are going to change! The last 3 (yes 3) pair I've bought have fallen apart, each within 9 months time and these shoes are not cheap in price.

Apparently they are cheaply made though. I emailed NB and their reply was to try and return them to the store....BUT you must have the receipt which of course I didn't have. Who keeps sneaker receipts for 9 months?! She then said I could send them back to them but a receipt would still be required.

I told her forget it, I just wanted to make you aware how terrible your product has become. I have 2 pr from 10-12 years ago that I wear for yard work.

They may not look pretty but they still haven't fallen apart! I now c a lot of people have the same complaint

New Balance - Very Poor Quality - Shoes and Customer Service

Bought a pair of New Balance shoes May 25, 2015, The first of July the shoes started coming apart. There is a strip that runs on the bottom of the sole that just separated.

I couldn't believe it. I'm 62, usually shoes like this last me between 3 and 5 years. Because of where the sole separated the shoes are of no value, can't wear them. I got in contact with New Balance customer service (Abby), after a little run around I was told I needed to call their return department.

Abby did tell me that without my original receipt I might as well take a hike. Who keeps a receipt for a pair of tennis shoes?? I couldn't find it and so I dropped the whole thing. I found my receipt and called the return department as Abby suggested.

They won't call back.

No more New Balance for me, they are just totally worthless and so is their customer service. Just bad Karma.

Quality Deteriorating

I've been a NB loyal customer for more than a decade. Unfortunately my most recent purchase of NB 880 V3 has been a joke. The mesh on both shoes started tearing after a month and the tears gradually widened. More recently, one of the loops for the shoe laces cracked open making making the shoes unusable. I called their customer service up and they said that they could not do anything, not even offering to repair the loop. They wavered between asking for the receipt and then commenting that it has been a while since I bought the shoes. I've decided to move on and use other brands/products.

New Balance shoes smell

I have purchased 6 pairs of New Balance shoes that cost from $140.00 to $170.00 a pair.

For the past year one pair has had a very foul Oder after trying may products to get rid of the Oder without success I went back to the store I purchased them at they told me they had never heard of this problem.

And to soak the soles in vinaiger which I did. Did not work they still smell so bad I cannot keep them in my closet or in the house. The shoes are in good shape and condition I finally went online and discovered I am not crazy I have sent this information to New Balance but after reading many comments doesn't sound like they are going to do much.

I find it strange that the shoe store was unaware of this condition. Unless New Balance makes it right it will be the last pair I buy.

New Balance Sneakers Review

608 sneakers. I've had 3 pairs less than 1 year old come apart at the toe. I wear new balance because of knee problems. I can't wear anything else. I love them but they don't last. I can't afford to by sneakers very 6 months because they fall apart.

Yes, because limited warranties should mean we're entitled to a refund or exchange FOREVER!

I also believe it's HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE to charge a late fee when I pay my mortgage late!

Whenever customer service tries to enforce a policy, I cut them off and remind them that I'm the customer, so I MUST be right and MUST be given anything and everything whenever I demand it. Because anything else is just HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

So your gratitude here is misplaced. You should be on TripAdvisor complaining too!

(Cuz you never know, maybe THEY'LL give you sort of compensation also!)

Did you inform customer service that you're a member of AARP and AAA? I use this to demand even more compensation, and if they decline my offer, I inform them I'll have the BBB shut them down!

New Balance Shoes Fell Apart

The walking shoes weren't very comfortable so I didn't wear them for a couple of years. The soles looked like new. After a few days, the sole of one shoe literally collapsed and the sole was in pieces. When I called New Balance they said that the shoe had "dry rot" and they considered it perfectly normal because I hadn't worn the shoes on a regular basis. They advised me to rotate my shoes. They wouldn't replace the shoe. In other words, without warning, they expect the product to have a limited life even if it isn't worn. Do not purchase New Balance shoes.
